A keen triathlete and father died from 'catastrophic' head injuries after falling 20 feet from the roof of his Windsor home, an inquest heard yesterday.
The Windsor Guildhall inquest heard how Christopher Grimmer, of Vansittart Road, slipped as he was jumping off a ladder on to the roof where he was about to carry out works on July 11.
The 46-year-old had climbed a double ladder, and his friend Jamie Wilde was halfway up the ladder when he fell from the property and landed on a concrete path.
Mr Grimmer, was said to be a 'very fit' man was rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford by air ambulance for treatment, but died five days later on July 16.
The inquest heard how a post-mortem carried out by Dr Robert Chapman, found he had suffered a fractured skulls and severe head injuries.
In recording an accident death verdict, Berkshire coroner Peter Bedford, said the accident had happened 'so, so quickly'.
