There were plenty of goals and entertainment in Sunday’s football matches in the Thames Valley Development League.

At u9s level, the Maidenhead Warriors cruised into the quarter finals of the League Plate competition with a 6-3 victory over Taplow United Clarets.

The Warriors dominated the game from the start and held the lead throughout despite Taplow’s best efforts to get back into the contest.

Fred Snoxell scored a hat-trick for Warriors, Alessio Griksas grabbed two goals and Riley Martin scored the other one.

In the u10s competition, the Maidenhead Warriors edged an exciting development game 6-5 over the Golden Eagles.

The action swung from end-to-end, and the tie was level at 5-5 going into the final minutes, however, right at the death, the Warriors made the most of a free kick awarded to them just outside the box when Mohammed Ibraheen Shabir powered a shot into the back of the net.

It was his second of the game and the other goals for the Warriors were scored by Ramey Zabatt (a hat-trick) and Mason Squires.

In the u15s division of the Wycombe & South Bucks Minor Football League, FC Holyport returned to the top of the table thanks to a hard-fought 3-2 win over Ruislip Rangers.

Holyport hadn’t played in nearly a month and looked well off the pace in the first half as Ruislip raced into a 2-0 lead. However, Holyport staged a spirited fightback in the second half, spearheaded by two early goals from Lewis Balfe and a winning strike from Ashraf Ayad.

The result moves Holyport one point ahead of championship rivals Maidenhead United Juniors Bullets with both sides due to play their final matches of the season next weekend.

Several Maidenhead Boys & Girls FC sides were also in action this weekend, with the U18s Colts losing 3-1 away to Finchampstead Dynamos in the EBFA Division 3.

The u16s Dolphins managed to draw 2-2 at home to Burghfield Bisons in EBFA Division 2, while the Stingrays u16s side were beaten 3-1 at home by Wargrave Wolves Reds in Division 7.

There was a heavy away defeat for the u14s Scorpions as they went down to a 10-1 defeat at Holyport in EBFA Division 4, while an understrength u14s Wolverines will also learn from the experience of their 15-0 home defeat by Rotherfield United Wasps.

The u12s Girls Kestrels celebrated a 9-5 victory away to the Finchampstead Fire Reds in Division 4 of the BCGFL nine-a-side league while the u14s Girls Jets lost 6-3 at home to Brook House in a friendly.
