Saturday was an afternoon to forget for Regional 2 Thames survival hopefuls Windsor as they went down to a resounding 99-7 defeat away to league leaders Brunel University.

Andy Symons Windsor side were put to the sword in comprehensive fashion as Brunel marched seven points clear at the top of the table.

With the London Wild Geese edging out Harpenden by 38-29 at the weekend, the result also plunges Windsor back into the bottom two.

With just six games remaining, they are in danger of being automatically relegated alongside bottom club Oxford Harlequins - who already look dead and buried on just 11 points.

Saturday’s emphatic defeat, where Brunel came within a whisker of chalking up 100 points, leaves Symons men four points behind the Wild Geese heading into another tough looking clash with the division’s fourth placed side Belsize Park at Home Park on Saturday, February 14.

After that they make the short trip to play derby rivals Marlow at Riverwoods on Saturday, February 28.

They’ll be hoping the likes of London Wild Geese and Grasshoppers struggle to pick up points in the next two match weekends before they host struggling Quins on March 7.

Further up the table, things are looking a lot rosier for Marlow, who’ve lifted themselves to sixth with an impressive 47-24 win over Teddington at Riverwoods.

The home side were at their irrepressible best as they swept into a 27-12 half-time lead and they were able to hammer home that advantage in the second period. They’re now just five points behind Teddington in fifth and have bounced back from a disappointing 10-14 home defeat to struggling Grasshoppers the weekend before last.

They now go to eighth placed Aylesbury on Saturday, February 14.
