2009: A Tesco employee shaved off her shoulder-length hair in the name of charity.

Staff and customers at the store in Nicholsons Walk gathered around Julie Hodgson at the supermarket, as her hair was cut off by David Cubbon, manager of Raffles hair salon.

Tesco staff had been working hard to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care – the charity that all Tescos were supporting that year.

2009: Footballers finally got to play a game on Cox Green’s new all-weather astro-turf pitch.

The pitch, in Cannon Lane, was to be shared by Cox Green Community Centre and Cox Green School.

Residents were invited to the launch of the pitch, where activities inside the school hall, including a bouncy castle and face painting, were provided free by the council.

2009: ‘The day the town stood still’.

That was the front page headline for the Advertiser as the town saw its heaviest snowfall in decades.

Commuters faced treacherous conditions on the roads but ecstatic children revelled in the Arctic conditions as schools were closed.

2014: Ellington Primary School officially became Riverside Primary School.

Maidenhead MP Theresa May unveiled a plaque marking the change, which included a new uniform, fresh branding, and expansion to a two-form entry for the Cookham Road school.

2019: Families flocked to Punt Hill to take advantage of the blanket of snow which fell on the town.

With most of the schools in the Royal Borough closed because of overnight snowfall, many made a beeline for the popular sledging spot in Boyn Grove Park.
