1975: After 43 years as a teacher – and 31 of them at Braywood School in Oakley Green – Lilian Darvill put down her chalk for the last time.
Her years of service were recognised when staff and pupils presented her with an Indian rug and a clock.
1980: Comedians Eric and Ernie shot the opening sequence of their Morecambe and Wise show in Maidenhead.
The content of the scenes – shot on the motorway approach road near The Crest Hotel in Shoppenhangers Road – was top secret.
1980: More than a dozen members of Bray Guides went on a 10-mile bicycle ride.
It was organised like a treasure hunt, with the cyclists, aged from 11 to 14, instructed to look for various landmarks along the way.
1995: Johan van Niekerk produced what could well have been the greatest all-round performance in the history of local cricket.
The 20-year-old Marlow Park cricketer single-handedly destroyed Stoke Green – scoring a hundred, taking all 10 wickets, and finishing off the match with a hat-trick of wickets.
2000: More than 300 children in Maidenhead became the proud owners of certificates of achievement after completing the Maidenhead Advertiser’s Score with Sport scheme.
With the help of special activity books, the children used their own copies of the Advertiser to complete 15 different assignments over the summer term.
2000: TV presenter Kate Humble helped Highfield School say goodbye to year six pupils.
Humble, an ex-Highfield girl who was presenting the BBC’s Top Gear and the Holiday programme, presented the 11-year-old girls with certificates and book vouchers.
2000: Tradition was maintained as the annual Swan Upping ceremony took place on the Thames.
The procession of colourful boats made their way from Windsor to Marlow on the second day of the event, carrying representatives of the Crown and the Vintners’ and Dyers’ companies for the annual swan census.
