Slough Town’s joint boss Jon Underwood admits the club are keen to bring in one or two more senior recruits to bolster options and bring in experience.
However, he says they must be right for the club as he doesn't want the wrong type of player coming in and stealing an opportunity away from a younger player who's perhaps looking to progress from the u23s academy.
The club's link with the academy this season has brought through plenty of exciting young talent, and it means Neil Baker and Underwood can afford to bide their time while searching for potential new signings.
“We’ve been delighted with him (Edon Pruti). He’s only 19 but we’ve started him in our last two games, and he looks a good prospect.
“We are looking for one or two more because we’re light as a squad anyway and we’ve got a couple of injuries to senior players.
“We were missing Freddie Grant, Scott Davies and Matt Lench on Tuesday.
“We may have one of those back for Saturday but no more than that.
“We’re constantly looking and talking to people but there’s nothing to report on that yet.
“We don’t want to bring in someone we’re not sure about over one of our own young players. We’ve been giving opportunities to younger players, and we feel that’s born fruit this season and will even more going into next season.
“But we know we need a balance of experience as well. It’s a constant thing we’re working on.
“We’re not a club that has a big merry-go round of players coming in and then moving on a few weeks later because you realise, they’re not good enough. We want to be sure before we bring them in.”
