Eight new single deck buses have been introduced to help ‘improve customer experience’ around Maidenhead, Windsor and Ascot, Thames Valley Buses has announced.
The new buses feature low-emission Euro VI engines and came into service from Monday, September 1.
The buses feature seat back USB-A and USB-C charging ports, free WIFI and ‘next stop’ audio and visual announcements.
They also have distinctive purple branding featuring Maidenhead Bridge and Windsor Castle to represent the area.
The buses have been introduced on the 1/1A route which runs through Windsor Great Park between Dedworth, Windsor and Ascot and Maidenhead route 7 to Woodlands Park.
They also feature on route 16 between Maidenhead and Windsor, route 227 running between Maidenhead, Waltham St Lawrence and Twyford and route 228 between Maidenhead, Hurley and Henley.
Simon Fisher, general manager at Thames Valley Buses, said: “As a locally owned and managed company, we are delighted to be able to bring these brand-new buses to the people of Windsor and Maidenhead.”
“This significant investment follows the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead’s revamp of financially supported services in April this year that saw routes enhanced following public consultation.
“Our new vehicles go above and beyond the minimum requirement to demonstrate how serious we are about working together to transform customer journeys and encourage more people to choose the bus.”
