Fire and rescue crews help evacuate flood-hit Wraysbury residents

Fire and rescue teams from Slough and Langley attended the flood-hit village of Wraysbury to help combat the rising waters.

Over the past 48 hours, Royal Berkshire fire crews have worked through day and night on site and a team from Slough joined today.

A temporary refuge centre was set up in a church in the village where fire crews and volunteers bought those rescued from flooded homes and rising waters.

A spokesperson from Slough fire station said:

“A lot of volunteers were helping with rescue people from houses and the incident has been stood down now because water is starting to recede.

“There was a community hub was set up for people in the church.

“Accessibility was quite good for where we were down by the church, although you will still need some waders on to get through.”

The Royal Borough council issued a statement on Monday which advised emergency services were responding to assist vulnerable residents in the area.
