A sushi counter and a new chilled wine department are just some of the new features customers can look forward at the new-look Waitrose in Maidenhead from the end of this week.
The store in Moorbridge Road, which has recently celebrated 35 years in the town, has undergone a multi-million-pound transformation over the last eight weeks.
The new-look store will now feature a dry aged beef cabinet, refurbished meat and fish counters, and a new frozen food section for pets.
Other changes include a new served and self-service cheese and deli counter, alongside a self-serve hot chicken and cold salad offering, more space for on-demand food orders, and new digital displays.
New indoor and outdoor horticulture displays, a revamped health and beauty offering, and a new customer welcome desk with a dedicated John Lewis click and collect space also feature at the store.
The new look will be revealed this Friday and shoppers are being invited to join in the festivities which will include tastings and live music.
There will also be a £900 giveaway, with 30 customers due to win a £30 golden ticket over the weekend of Friday, November 22 to Sunday, November 24.
Customers who spend a minimum of £10 will be notified by their receipt at the checkout if they have won.
Mark Brown, the branch manager and his team of partners will be joined by Will Torrent, Waitrose innovation and development chef and local residents to cut the ribbon at 7.30am.
Will has been invited to open the store to ‘reflect its vision to celebrate great food’.
The Maidenhead store will trial new services, concept upgrades and product offerings to play a role in establishing a new blueprint for future Waitrose shops, to be revealed next year.
This includes the 100 new convenience stores the retailer plans to open in the next five years.
Waitrose is investing up to £1billion in new stores and modernising around 80 existing shops.
Mark said: “Our vision has been to deliver a store that celebrates great food and provides customers with a shopping experience that inspires.
“The shop has been transformed and will have a big say in shaping future Waitrose stores.
"We have proudly served the town for more than 35 years and the investment reinforces our commitment to the town and our customers.”
