A ‘record number’ of participating teams took on Windsor Lions 28th Swimathon last month.
The club was ‘delighted’ with the outcome of the event, which took place on Sunday, October 19, at St George’s School in Ascot.
A total of 57 teams took part, and to date more than £20,000, which organisers said is ‘another record at this stage of the event’, has been raised with more likely to come.
Among those participating was the RBWM mayor’s team and deputy mayor Sian Martin was in attendance to the event.
The event provides an opportunity for local charities and groups to swim in relay for 55 minutes to raise funds for their own cause or one close to their hearts.
In the years that the Windsor Lions have staged the event, they have raised almost £300,000.
Organiser Mike Sells said: “The event attracts swimmers from all sorts of groups and organisations.
“It is this great mix that makes the event such an enjoyable day for volunteers and swimmers alike.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank St Georges School in Ascot for allowing us to use their wonderful facilities and the staff of Frogs and Friends for their lifeguarding support on the day.”
Next year’s Swimathon will take place on Sunday, October 18 2026.
