Popular festival Rock the Rec will be returning for its fourth year this Sunday.
At Clewer Memorial Recreation Ground, the festival will run from midday until 10pm and promises a line-up of live music from tribute acts and local artists, alongside food and drink stalls, a craft village, and funfair rides.
This year’s festival will host a range of acts, including MacBusted, the tribute to pop-rock legends Busted & McFly, RT90s - Rock the 90s playing dance, house, and rave anthems, the Arctic Monkeys tribute Mardy Bums, and Kaylie as Taylor Swift.
There will also be many local bands such as Euphoria, Country Chics, and The Jades.
Alison Carpenter, one of the trustees of organisers Clewer and Dedworth Together, said: “The real highlight is always seeing the community come together – families, friends and neighbours enjoying live music, food, stalls and entertainment in the heart of Clewer and Dedworth.”
The festival raises money to support local community initiatives, which have included installing Christmas lights along Dedworth Road and setting up the internet café at Woody’s, which is free to use.
All profits from Rock the Rec go back into the community through the Clewer & Dedworth Together CIC group.
The event also helps local businesses through trade and visibility, and ‘builds real community pride’.
Last year, the event attracted around 1,200 visitors throughout the day, and with ticket sales already strong, it’s expecting even more this year.
Ticket prices are being kept as low as possible, and if bought before Sunday, are £15 per adult and £7 per child (under 3s free).
Rock the Rec believes in making the event inclusive to everyone, and as a result the team are offering free tickets to low-income families, working with local schools, housing associations and clubs.
Alison added that the team are ‘giving more opportunities for local groups and artists to be involved with our all-new second stage - the community stage, sponsored by Horler’.
