Vintage tractors and produce auction at 172nd Ploughing Match and Country Show

12:32AM, Saturday 27 September 2025

Vintage tractors and an ‘impressive’ auction of produce will be on offer at the 172nd Ploughing Match and Country Show on Sunday.

The annual event, organised by the Royal East Berks Agricultural Association (REBAA), brings together the farming and wider community for a day of fun and friendly competition at Berkshire College of Agriculture in Burchetts Green.

The event sees ploughmen and women from across the area bring along a mixture of vintage and modern equipment, pitting their skills against each other.

There will be vintage tractors to see, as well as heavy horses ploughing.

The event will be open to the public from 10am and visitors can take part in the raffle, enjoy fairground rides and see farm animals.

The Waltham St Lawrence Silver Band will perform from 11am.

The show boasts farm, conservation, livestock, crop and gardens classes.

Several cups will be handed out for domestic classes, which will cover categories including flowers and plants, baking, handicraft, fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, preserves and exhibits.

The domestic classes can be entered before 10am on the day.

Dog owners can enter their furry friends into the popular dog show to compete in categories including Best Puppy, Best Rescue, Waggiest Tail and Best Six Legs.

Entries can be made on the day for the dog show, which will kick off from 12.30pm and is sponsored by Old Beams Kennels.

There will be an abundance of local farm food at the ‘impressive’ auction of produce, held in the afternoon.

This year, guests will be treated to a show of vintage machinery which will see vehicles such as cars, lorries and tractors line the long drive of BCA, in memory of former REBAA president Tony King.

Ploughing and farm competition prizes will be handed out in the afternoon.

REBAA president Alan Keene, said: “The Royal East Berks Agricultural Association will be showcasing some of what we do at our 172nd Ploughing Match and Country Show on Sunday, bringing local communities together for a fun and interesting day in the beautiful historic setting of Berkshire College of Agriculture.

“An important aspect of our mission is friendly competition in rural activities, and in today’s uncertain world I hope the day will provide a brief opportunity for everybody to come together and participate in a wide variety of activities which they may not normally experience, or just to enjoy the spectacle of the ploughing, dog show, produce show and the many attractions on offer.

“I am delighted that funds raised from the event will be going to our chosen charities – Thames Hospice and The Thames Valley Adventure Playground – and I look forward to welcoming everybody to what promises to be a memorable day out in the countryside.”
