Residents were out in full force supporting a community football charity event at Arbour Park Stadium on Sunday.

Approximately 350 attendees watched ten teams go head-to-head at the fifth annual event hosted by AP Sporting Enterprise, in collaboration with the Afro-Caribbean Heritage Society.

The ‘truly unforgettable celebration of sport, culture, and community spirit’ featured kids and youth football in the morning and a Veterans Cup and international showcase matches in the afternoon.

These were the Caribbean vs Africa and Anguilla vs St Kitts & Nevis.

Despite the rain and sleet, the crowd came out in numbers to support the champions of the respective adult tournaments: Team Singh Sabha, Team Africa and Team St Kitts & Nevis.

This year, the charity event was sponsored by Thames Motor Group and the Safer Slough Partnership and raised money for Thames Hospice.

“Your continued support helped bring this vision to life once again,” said one organiser, Alan Paris.

“Massive thanks to all the companies who advertised in our event programme – your support helped us raise vital funds and awareness.

“To our amazing volunteers, and to all the friends, families, and supporters who came down to watch, cheer, and uplift the teams—thank you for showing up and showing love.

“You brought the heart to the event.

“To everyone who played – your passion on the pitch was inspiring.”

Organisers thanked the dozens of stallholders selling food and gifts, as well as those providing face painting and children's activities throughout the day.

They gave Stevoss and the Love Music Hate Violence crew a special shout-out for ‘keeping the vibes flowing’ on the DJ decks.

“An amazing day with a brilliant turnout, incredible energy, and a strong sense of togetherness. Here’s to 5 years strong, and many more to come,” added Alan.
