THAMES VALLEY DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE
The Thames Valley Football Development League's u13s Presidents Cup kicked off in earnest on Sunday with the Golden Eagles edging a close encounter with Burnham Junior Sabres White 2-0.
With the game played out in persistent rain, the Eagles grabbed the lead with a goal from Mmoloki Chiwiyu. Burnham had their chances to equalise and went close with an attempt that got stuck in the mud after some frantic goalmouth action.
The action switched from end-to-end but in the final minutes the Eagles put the seal on victory when Sajjan Takhar found the net.
Elsewhere in the competition, Harefield United Youth beat FC Cippenham Leopards 2-1 and Maidenhead United Cobras defeated FC Holyport Warriors 7-1.
In the u13s Subsidiary Cup, RedKore beat Chalfont Saints United 1-0 in a tight, tense clash, while Frontline Juniors cruised to a 15-2 victory over Singh Sabha.
There were contrasting fortunes for the two Cookham Dean sides in the u12s Subsidiary Trophy this weekend, with the Rebels beating Singh Sabha 1-0 and the Dynamos losing 2-1 to FC Cippenham Panthers.
In the Plate competition, Slough Town Junior Stags were 5-1 winners over FC Cippenham Tigers and S4K Wolves romped to an 8-1 victory over FC Baylis Cubs.
In the Wycombe & South Bucks Minor Football League, Golden Eagles beat Widmer End 5-2 with Reece Holmes (two), Mason Simpson, Hasan Javed and Kiraj Banwait on the scoresheet.
The Laurel Park Cyclones whipped up a storm as they beat Maidenhead Boys & Girls FC u18s boys 4-2 in Division 2 this weekend.
The club’s Cobras u17s were also beaten, losing 6-2 at home to Spencers Wood Tornados while the u16s Colts were defeated 3-1 at Division 6 league leaders Eversley & California Lions.
The Cobras took the lead through Josh Ewers goals.
The u14s Sharks were beaten 10-1 away by AFC Charvil while the u14s Dolphins drew their Division 4 match 3-3 at Henley Hurricanes.
There was a 3-1 away loss for the u13s Jaguars at Darby Green & Potley Youth Dynamos, while the u12s Scorpions drew 3-3 with FC Holyport Hurricanes away from home.
It was the same outcome for the u12s Wolverines against Rotherfield United Wasps as the sides played out a 1-1 draw in a league cup group game.
The u13s Girls beat Tilehurst Panthers Reds in Division 1, but the u14s Girls Mavericks lost 7-0 away to AFC Reading Liberty Belles. The u16s Girls were also beaten 3-1 away by Laurel Park Diamonds in the Division 1.
