Police are appealing for witnesses after a boy suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run by a driver fleeing police in Slough on Wednesday night (August 27).
The driver of a black Volkswagen Passat hit a pedestrian, an 11-year-old boy, while failing to stop for officers on Wednesday at around 7.15pm in Oatlands Drive, at the junction with Stoke Poges Lane.
The victim sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital in a stable condition.
The driver and passenger of the Volkswagen Passat did not stop at the scene.
The vehicle was later discovered abandoned and has been recovered.
Lead investigating officer, Inspector Simon Hills, from our Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: “I am appealing to anybody who witnessed this collision, or who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage, to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.
“You can do so by making a report online or by calling 101, quoting reference 43250439163.
“We are investigating this incident and the circumstances surrounding it, as a priority and have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to the police pursuit beforehand.
“I would ask people to please avoid participating in any speculation surrounding the circumstances of this incident, especially on social media, out of respect to the family at this difficult time.
“To speak up 100 per cent anonymously, visit Crimestoppers-uk.org or speaking to one of their specially trained, non-police call agents at their UK Contact Centre, which is open 24/7, 365 days a year on 0800 555 111.”
