A free one-day festival celebrating acoustic music and local talent is set to take place in Maidenhead High Street in July.
The High Street Acoustic Festival promises ‘a day of live music, fun, and community vibes in the heart of Maidenhead’ on Saturday, July 5.
It will feature live performances from local musicians, a variety of craft and community stalls, face painting, fun fair rides and more.
This free-to-attend event is open to all ages for most of the day and will feature a full programme of local acoustic artists throughout.
The main stage will be set up at the Boy and Boat statue outside Off The Tap. There will be drinks and burgers from SoBe on offer throughout the day.
Extra seating around The Boy and Boat will be installed for relaxing and soaking up the atmosphere.
Live music will continue into the evening, with Off The Tap hosting an 18+ evening stage from 5pm until late.
The evening promises drinks and ‘a buzzing festival atmosphere to round off the day in style.’
Other highlights include:
W Craft and community stalls
W Pop-up performance areas across the High Street
W Ice cream, face painting and more.
Organised by Berks & Bucks Events Collective CIC in partnership with Make Maidenhead, the event aims to turn the town centre into a ‘vibrant, family-friendly celebration of creativity and community’.
It is related to the acoustic festival by Off The Tap which has been held in the town centre every year since 2018.
Toby Denney, events programme lead, said the idea of Berks & Bucks Events Collective CIC is to take events like this one and make them ‘more accessible.’
“We want to be growing these events and make them bigger and better for the town,” he said.
One difference is the modestly-sized fun fair going down the High Street and the presence of two separate stages – the second being a busking stage.
“After the amazing turnout and energy at our recent Craft Beer Festival, we’re excited to build on that momentum with something completely different but equally community driven,” said Toby.
“The High Street Acoustic Festival is all about supporting local talent, businesses, and giving people a reason to come together and celebrate Maidenhead.”
Berks & Bucks Events Collective CIC is a not-for-profit community events organisation ‘dedicated to enriching local life through inclusive, creative, and accessible cultural events across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire’.
Make Maidenhead, meanwhile, is a community-driven initiative ‘here to shout about all the great things that make the town what it is.’
Maidenhead’s town manager, Robyn Bunyan, is helping set up this event.
The High Street Acoustic Festival runs from 11am to 4.30pm on Saturday, July 5, plus the evening stage at 5pm, indoors at Off The Tap.
This will go on until about 9pm, after which Off The Tap will go back to its normal evening activities.
There will be security and volunteers around the High Street to help keep people with alcohol in check, said Toby.
Licencing is already secured, as it is a High Street event – it only required permission from the council.
