HENLEY HAWKS 3rds delivered a strong performance as they ran out 28-21 winners against AVENGERS in their Maidenhead and District League Division 2 clash.
The game began at a lively pace, with both teams trading goals early on. Hawks settled quickly and edged ahead to take a slim two-goal lead by the end of the first quarter.
Hawks pressed hard in the second quarter, their defensive pressure and accurate finishing helped them stretch their advantage to five goals by half-time.
Avengers worked hard to slow Hawks’ rhythm in the third quarter but despite their efforts Hawks extended their lead to seven goals.
The last quarter proved to be evenly matched but Hawks maintained their advantage to secure the win.
In Division 4, HENLEY HAWKS 4ths secured a convincing 36-7 win against BLUEBELLES.
The Hawks started strongly, quickly settling into their rhythm and building a seven-goal lead by the end of the first quarter.
Momentum continued in the second quarter as Henley increased their intensity. Strong defensive pressure created valuable turnovers, allowing the Hawks to extend their advantage and head into half-time with a 12-goal lead.
After the break, Henley maintained their composure and teamwork and continued to pull away in both the third and fourth quarters. The result keeps Henley firmly in touch near the top of the table.
In Division 3, HENLEY HAWKS 5ths secured promotion after defeating VIXENS 34-28.
The Hawks started strongly in the opening quarter, settling quickly into their rhythm and building a two-goal lead through composed attacking play and solid defensive pressure.
In the second quarter Vixens responded well, tightening the contest and gradually chipping away at the scoreline to pull within a single goal at half-time.
The third quarter saw both sides produce some good passages of play, with neither team able to gain a decisive advantage. Hawks maintained their narrow one-goal lead going into the final quarter.
In the final quarter strong defensive pressure led to key interceptions which were calmly converted into goals at the other end, allowing Hawks to stretch their lead and finally pull clear. Their hard work paid off as they secured a well-earned victory, while Vixens claimed the bonus point.

The opening quarter saw Hawks working steadily to find their rhythm. Connections began to build through the court as the quarter progressed, and momentum started to swing their way in the latter stages. Despite the improvement, Woodley edged ahead to close the first quarter 14-8 in front.
In the second quarter, Hawks raised their defensive intensity, applying pressure and forcing errors from the Woodley attack. The defensive unit worked tirelessly to disrupt play, creating valuable turnover ball but Woodley showed their quality and experience, extending their lead to 30-18 by half-time.
Fresh legs in the midcourt at the start of the third quarter injected energy and pace into the game. Hawks’ attack displayed patience and composure, moving the ball with purpose and converting from all areas of the circle.
Strong teamwork across the court saw Hawks close the gap to eight goals by the end of the quarter.
The final quarter saw Hawks continue to chip away at the deficit and reduce the margin to five goals at one stage. The momentum shift had Woodley under pressure, but the table toppers gradually pulled away in the closing minutes to secure a 13-goal victory.
HENLEY HAWKS U13s ran out 32-21 winners in their clash with WOODLEY WHITES U13s on Sunday.
From the opening whistle, the Hawks played with intensity and purpose.
Henley made a strong start, with solid defensive work from Kitty Lawrence and Sadie Roberts helping restrict the Woodley attack, while the midcourt linked play effectively to the shooters. The first quarter ended 6-4 to Henley Hawks.
The Hawks built momentum in the second quarter. Daisy Goforth controlled the centre court well, feeding Amelie Woodhouse and Soraya Stender to create consistent scoring opportunities for Mabel Reed-Ryan. By half-time Henley had extended their lead to 17-10.
The third quarter saw the Hawks continue their dominance, with Harriet King stepping in defensively and the team maintaining their composure. Accurate shooting and relentless pressure pushed the score to 25-14 going into the final period.
Woodley fought hard in the final quarter, but Henley remained focused, closing out the match to win by 11 goals in a match that saw Mabel Reed-Ryan and Kitty Lawrence named players of the match.
