A long-stay car park for Heathrow Airport featuring more than 1,000 spaces could be built near the Colnbrook By-Pass.
Plans have been submitted to Slough Borough Council for a ‘Meet and Greet’ parking area on an empty plot of land near Pippins Park.
Applicant Maple Parking Ltd said the facility will employ a team of professional drivers who meet customers at the airport and then drive their cars to the long-stay car park.
When passengers return from their trip, they must call the Maple Parking team who will then return the car to outside the terminal – allowing the customer to drive straight home.
This means there will be no access to the site for the general public as only the team of professional drivers will be driving to and from the facility.
A design and access statement submitted to Slough Borough Council estimates that 250 round-trips will be made per day if the long-stay car park is granted planning permission.
The facility will include a total of 1,062 spaces.
The plans state that the site falls within an area at risk of flooding but a flood risk assessment is yet to be submitted to the council.
