Sunshine followed the showers as the Queen attended the Easter Service on a rainy morning at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle today.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh leave the Easter Service at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle

She was joined by the Duke of Edinburgh and members of their family, including Prince Andrew, Duke of York and his daughters Beatrice and Eugenie, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex and their children Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn, and Princess Anne, her husband Sir Timothy Laurence, son Peter Phillips and daughter-in-law Autumn Phillips.

Princes Andrew and Edward led the family as they walked down to the chapel, while Princess Anne, the Queen - who was dressed in primrose yellow - and Prince Philip followed on by car.

The windy weather meant the royal women had to hold on to their hats as they entered the chapel, and there was a torrential downpour during the service, but shortly before the end the sun shone through.

Seven-year-old Christabella Manners from Windsor, whose father is a lay clerk and sings in the chapel choir, presented flowers to the Queen afterwards.

Mum Emily said: "She (the Queen) talked about how glad she was it had stopped raining."

The Queen also attended the Royal Maundy Service at the chapel on Thursday. Click here for photos.
