THE Caversham Picture Framer will be showcasing the works of Sally Castle next month.
Born in Reading, Sally has designed covers and illustrated more than 40 books for Two Rivers Press. She likes to create her own original hand lettering, as well as working in linocut printmaking, environmental lettering and mixed media.
For the linoprints, Sally carves into a lino block, layering ink on to the surface and then printing it on to paper. Reduction linoprints involve carving more of the block away after printing, then printing on top of the original linoprint in a different colour.
“Sally Castle: To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow” is at the Caversham Picture Framer, 5a Church Road, Caversham, from Wednesday, August 13 to Saturday, September 27. An artist talk will be announced shortly.
