READING manager Leam Richardson was left ‘pleased’ with Tuesday’s 2-1 victory at Wigan Athletic, a result that saw the Royals climb to 10th place in League 1.
Reading secured the three points thanks to a Paudie O’Connor 87th-minute winner at the Brick Community Stadium.
Jeriel Dorsett had headed the Royals ahead inside three minutes of the second half before Joe Taylor levelled things up with 25 minutes remaining.
Speaking after the win, Richardson said: “It is a big three points. We had to be patient and keep the ball, not risk it as much and wait until we get five in the top line. I felt we would get that because at times we played some really good football and played through them at times. We will get better at that. I thought we put in some positive performances — Benn Ward’s debut was excellent.”
Last Saturday Reading lost out 3-2 away to AFC Wimbledon. Marcus Browne put the hosts ahead before Jack Marriott equalised on 33 minutes. Browne netted his second before Dorsett equalised after 65 minutes. However, Browne secured his hat-trick with the winner on 71 minutes.
On Saturday Reading entertain Wycombe Wanderers (kick-off 12.30pm) before travelling to Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday (kick-off 8pm).
