Bartley felt Marlow showed the 'resilience that's been missing from their game'

Manager Mark Bartley felt Marlow had to show ‘a little bit of everything’ to come away from Hadley with a 2-1 win at the weekend.

After successive away defeats at Welwyn Garden City and Leverstock Green, this inexperienced Blues side finally showed the resolve their manager has been craving as they came from behind to claim all three points thanks to a late strike from Kwesi Ntim (above)

Having fallen behind in only the seventh minute to a goal from an acute angle by Isaac Stones, the visitors got themselves back on level terms through Harvey Maudner in the 25th minute. Given recent performances, a draw away to a top 10 side wouldn’t have been a bad result, but Ntim served up a very satisfying ending in the 90th minute.

Bartley said: “It was a good performance from us. They had to show a little bit of everything. We went behind early and felt hard done by because I thought the lad was offside in the build-up. But what we’ve shown today - and we haven’t done it in recent weeks - is show a bit of resilience.

“We got ourselves back into the game and defended well but we also scored two good goals. We must be pleased with that, and it shows progress. It’s three well-deserved points.” 

The result lifts Marlow to 15th, two places behind Flackwell Heath who were beaten 2-1 at home by Welwyn Garden City on Saturday.  Carlos Velasco’s second half brace put the visitors two goals to the good before Lewis Patrick reduced the deficit in the 76th minute. Marlow host Milton Keynes Irish on Saturday while the Heathens are on the road at Leverstock Green.
