Desborough are through to the national stages of the Denny Cup after claiming a commanding victory over Westlecot this week.
The dominant 95-63 victory for the Maidenhead side was the highlight of a dramatic and eventful week across all competitions.
Desborough now progress to the national quarter0finals where they will take on Bromley in what promises to be another intriguing contest.
The drama continued in the Yetton Trophy only this time, Desborough suffered an agonising defeat to North Wilts, losing by just a single shot.
The women’s team put up a terrific effort but were undone by the narrowest or margins.
Desborough also had little time to celebrate their Denny Cup victory as 24-hours later they met Westlecot again in the Mixed Top Club competition.
This time, a determined Westlecot benefited from the addition of their ladies’ team and managed to edge the tie, ending Desborough’s impressive run in the competition.
The club’s first friendly fixture of the new year saw them take on county rivals Whiteknights.
Still shaking off the cobwebs following the festive break, Desborough were beaten 102-82, despite the standout performance of the rink skipped by John Munnelly, who claimed an excellent 19-9 victory. A bright not on an otherwise disappointing afternoon.
Desborough will now look to build on their progress into the national stages of the Denny Cup and build a little momentum as the new year unfolds.
