A Windsor resident who was close to the epicentre of the Morocco earthquake earlier this month has organised a fundraising event at a pub in Clewer.

Rebecca Calvert and her long-time friend Hilary McKegney were in the Imlil area when the 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit the Marrakesh-Safi region just after 11pm on Friday, September 8.

After arriving safely back in the UK, Rebecca has now organised a Tagine Taster evening from 5pm to 8pm at The Swan pub in Clewer on Saturday, September 30.

People are being invited to come along for the tagine, as well as a cake and book stall in aid of The British Red Cross.

The British Red Cross is currently running the Morocco Earthquake Appeal for donations.

Local Moroccan Red Crescent teams responded to the earthquake on the ground immediately and are helping authorities in a range of ways including with providing food, water, shelter and hygiene kits, search and rescue and evacuation.

Rebecca and Hilary have launched a JustGiving fundraiser for The British Red Cross Society to help those affected in Morocco.

So far, the pair have raised more than £580 of their £1,000 target. Their fundraiser can be viewed at: https://www.justgiving.com/page/rebecca-calvert-1695458362795
