Public notices: RBWM council tax rates confirmed for the year

In the public notices this week, the Royal Borough has set council tax for the year, beginning this April 1 – and is also temporarily closing part of King Street to drivers and pedestrians so a crane can be erected for development there.

Council tax

Band D is considered the ‘average’ tax bracket. This year, Band D is set at the following rates for each ward:

• Bisham: £1,697.62
• Bray: £1,685.90
• Cookham: £1,688.80
• Cox Green: £1,698.45
• Hurley: £1,668.44
• Shottesbrooke: £1,634.73
• Waltham St Lawrence: £1,680.59
• White Waltham: £1,772.14
• Unparished Maidenhead: £1,671.39

Band D council tax for unparished Maidenhead was set at £1593.94 for 2023/24, representing a rise of £77.45 from last year.

Windsor and Maidenhead approved a 4.99 per cent increase in council tax at a full council meeting last Thursday, as part of its approval vote for the 2024/25 budget.

The council tax includes the adult social care precept, parish precepts or special expenses, and police and fire authority precepts.

Also from April 1, the amount of council tax charged on properties where there is no resident, and which are substantially furnished, will double.

Traffic

The borough is looking to close part of Boyn Hill Road, Maidenhead from its junction with Clare Road to its junction with Boyn Hill Avenue.

The alternative route is via Clare Road, Boyndon Road and Boyn Hill Avenue.

The works, to upgrade mobile telecoms mast, are expected to last from 9am to 3pm on Wednesday, March 27.

Meanwhile, the council is also looking to close part of King Street to put up a crane for development.

King Street will close between its junction with Broadway, Keys Place and Queen Street – both the road and to pedestrians.

Pedestrians can take an alternate route via Broadway, A308 Grenfell Place and A308 King Street.

The closure would be from 10pm on Saturday, March 23 until 10pm the next day.

Lastly, RBWM gives notice that it intends to close Pinkneys Drive between the boundaries of property known as The Pyghtle.

The reroute is via Pinkneys Drive, Pink-
neys Road, St Marks Crescent, St Marks Road, A4 Bath Road, Hurley Road and Pinkneys Drive.

There will be fibre optic ducting clearing there from 9am to 3pm on Monday, March 25.
