Public notices: WHSmith to be renamed in Windsor

This week’s public notices feature a major application for an Eton Wick caravan park and aesthetic changes around Windsor town centre.

Planning

The Windsor branch of WHSmith will soon be renamed following an application to change its signage.

The company has requested consent for one non-illuminated fascia sign at the Thames Street unit.

The shopfront will read TGJones after WH Smith PLC agreed to sell 480 of its stores across the UK to Hobbycraft owner Modella Capital, in a £76m deal in March.

Modella Capital confirmed that the stores will be rebranded as TGJones and will keep the same products and services.

An application for 1 Castle Hill is to give the former Bluegrass BBQ unit, now home to Great British Fish and Chips, a facelift.

The plans involve repainting the exterior ground floor and upper floors, redecoration, a new counter, servery, food hoist, and a new opening following the removal of the existing door.

The fascia signs on both the Castle Hill and High Street frontages have been repainted with new signage.

The pre-existing hanging sign has been repainted with gold vinyl signage.

The pre-existing awnings have been redecorated with new striped fabric, and the fascias repainted.

The applicant will use barriers to enclose the pavement seating areas on the High Street.

Finally, a major application for 35 mobile homes for Crown Farm in Eton Wick has been called in by the ward councillor.

The proposed caravan park will be accessed via the existing site access on the north side of Eton Wick Road

The mobile homes will be sited on a gravel/road plainings surface.

The applicant said the proposal can be considered a form of appropriate greenbelt development, and the site will be laid with a permeable surface to reduce flooding risk.

Cllr Devon Davies requested a call-in if officers were to approve the plans, adding: “This appears to be inappropriate development of the greenbelt without special circumstance.”

Closures

A footpath closure is planned for the first week of August to facilitate new stopcock installation.

No person will be allowed along the footpath from Adkinson Alley to Cherwell Close in Maidenhead at the rear of numbers 59 to 61 Windrush Way.

The alternative route for pedestrians is via Cherwell Close, Kennet Road and Coln Close.

The closure will come into operation from 9.30am on Monday, August 4t until 4pm on Friday, August 8.

A road closure is also planned for more than a month to facilitate essential boundary wall repairs. No vehicle will be allowed along part of Church Hill from the southern boundary of the property known as ‘New Lodge’ southward for a distance of 160 metres.

The alternative route for vehicles affected by the Order is via Church Hill, B3024 Hurst Lane, Waltham Road and Church Hill.

The road closure will operate from Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm daily.

It will run from Tuesday, August 5 until Friday, September 12.
