MAIDENHEAD 136797-5

The latest public notices include fresh plans to convert part of the former Barclays branch in Maidenhead High Street into flats.

Developer Bayley Homes had an application rejected by the council in May to build four homes across the first and second floors of the town centre building.

Planning officers blocked the proposals as one of the flats failed to meet nationally described space standards.

Bayley Homes has now submitted a new prior approval application which is seeking the go-ahead to change the use of the building into six studio flats.

The applicant said the proposed housing development now complies with nationally described space standards and provides adequate light to all habitable rooms.

If approved, the development will be car-free and one cycle parking space will be provided for each property.

Access for future residents will be provided via West Street.

The building has been empty since Barclays closed its high street branch in April 2024.

Traffic

Church Hill in White Waltham will be subject to daily weekday closures for almost six weeks.

The road is set to shut from the southern boundary of a property known as New Lodge southward for a distance of 160 metres.

The closure will be in place between 9am and 4pm on weekdays, starting on Tuesday, August 5.

The closure has been authorised so essential boundary wall repairs can be carried out nearby.

Work is expected to be completed on Friday, September 12.

An alternative route for affected vehicles will be available via Church Hill, Hurst Lane, Waltham Road and Church Hill.

A footpath closure is planned between Adkinson Alley and Cherwell Close at the start of next month.

The walkway is expected to be closed from 9.30am on Monday, August 4 until 4pm on Friday, August 8.

An alternative route will be provided via Cherwell Close, Kennet Road and Coln Close.

The closure has been authorised to allow the installation of a stopcock, a valve which controls the flow of water into nearby buildings.
